Dodged jury duty again
Nov. 4th, 2008 09:09 pmI had a jury service summons for tomorrow, but the recording says only jurors number 1 to 298 need report. I was number 601. Almost identical experience to my summons in Nov. 2007.

Nov. 28th, 2007 09:58 pmThe summons was for tomorrow, so I had to call this evening to see if I needed to report. I was juror #609, and only jurors 1-309 need to report. If I'd realized that the juror numbers started with 1 every day I'd have been a lot less worried about having to go in.
Though I must say that my civic duty (for juries at least) in DeKalb County has been light. i've been summoned 3 times since moving back here in 1994, I think, have reported twice, and never been put on a jury. Unlike the one summons I had living in Madison County, Mississippi, where I ended up on a sequestered jury for a child-abuse murder trial...

Jury duty....not
Apr. 19th, 2004 10:34 pmI have escaped again. In 10 years of living in DeKalb County, I've been called for jury duty 3 times, I think, and never yet served on a jury. The last time I had to report, hung around for 3 hours or so answering questions ("Who has State Farm insurance?" "Who has Allstate insurance?"--I gather a lot of the docket that day consisted of people suing their insurance companies), and then was dismissed.
I got a summons for tomorrow, but the recording informs me that only jurors 1 to 260 need report. I'm number 426. Under DeKalb's "one day or one trial" system, that means I'm done. Which is good, as there's lots of stuff piled up at work that I need to tackle.
