Dodged the jury-duty bullet

nlbarberThe summons was for tomorrow, so I had to call this evening to see if I needed to report. I was juror #609, and only jurors 1-309 need to report. If I'd realized that the juror numbers started with 1 every day I'd have been a lot less worried about having to go in.
Though I must say that my civic duty (for juries at least) in DeKalb County has been light. i've been summoned 3 times since moving back here in 1994, I think, have reported twice, and never been put on a jury. Unlike the one summons I had living in Madison County, Mississippi, where I ended up on a sequestered jury for a child-abuse murder trial...
