Thursday's progress

The drywall crew did return on Thursday, though not very early--I went to a 9:30 Jazzercise class, and they were there when I got home around 10:45. It looks like most but not all of the holes have now been patched, though some need more work.
Mary the tile person also got some work in, after Tyson patched the subfloor where the utility room plumbing work was done. She and her helper Kim got the Durock down in the Cat Room, and will be back today to do the rest of it. Looks like they are going to try to deal with the small floor-level difference between the kitchen and utility room by using 1/4" Durock in the Cat Room/utility room area, and 1/2" in the kitchen. I think. I'll ask her today if I get a chance.
Betsy the contractor called to say the tile was ordered, the 12" floor tile will be here at the end of next week (the 12th) and thus would normally have been installed the week of the 22nd. I don't grok the week of delay in there--Betsy implied it was normal, but I can't see why you can't lay floor tile as soon as you have it, if the backer board is already done. And I didn't get a word in edgewise to ask. But in any case, the 6" tile to complete the pattern is backordered and won't be here until the 24th, so it's moot. I did call Home Depot Expo to see if they might have the 6" tile in stock, but was told, "great tile, you'll love it, it's all special order". Mary is going to call the manufacturer and see if there's any chance she can get the 97 tiles we need direct from them, but it's a slim chance.
