So, after the sheetrock delivery, I decided to get my bicycle out (first time since winter, I'm afraid) and ride around the neighborhood. Before I got out of the garage, Betsy (the contractor) and Mary (her office help, and the wife of a husband-and-wife tile setting operation) showed up to measure for tile, measure for cabinets, and oops! forgot the draw request they'd prepared.

About the time they got started, my cleaners showed up--I'd postponed from Tuesday in the hopes that the drywall would go in this week and they would be vacuuming up the dust. I showed Willie Mae the construction zone tour, she gave me a reduced cleaning price for the duration (no kitchen to clean, less carpet to vacuum thanks to piles of boxes in the way), and she and her crew cleaned away while Betsy, Mary, and I measured. Then I finally got my short bike ride in. The bike needs adjustment--I'm having trouble shifting in the front.

Then I set off for Weight Watchers, then AAA for tour books (Portland and Boise trips coming up), Panera for lunch, Publix, Target, the Farmer's Market, and home. And finally met the framer (I assume--I never asked and he never offered his name, but I think he must be Tyson), who had installed the new door to the garage. Yeah! But no deadbolt yet, as he had assumed it was one size and it is smaller, so the hole he had them pre-cut is too large. He will buy a sort of face-frame to fix the problem. I pointed out a few places that needed wall insulation, and he told me sheetrock installation would start Monday. (And told me about how he'd sand the sheetrock in the Weird Room with his vacuum sander so the dust would be no problem. I'm still covering the opening to the living room, with the bookcases in there, regardless. ) The draw request had appeared on my table, either via Tyson or perhaps Mary. It being past 3:30, I made a dash for the credit union to get a check cut. Got there with 10 minutes to spare.

Then it was home, then next door to get briefed on the supper arrangements. Sister-in-law bought 3 types of sausages, shrimp, and veggies for our usual 'Low Country Boil'--except we grill everything instead of boiling it. She then headed off with 2 kids for T-ball, and the remaining child and I moved to my house to play 10 Days in the USA. Then moved back to her house with Scrabble, so I could start cooking while playing. If the game hadn't been good, I might have had supper a little farther along when everyone else arrived, but we still ate reasonably close to our regular time.
