Bids on the kitchen renovation

My head hurts. I've spent part of the evening trying to make comparisons between the 4 bids I have for the kitchen renovation. The low bid is very low--60% of the high bid. Each bid provides wildly different formats and amounts of detail, with the worst being a total amount, 3 or 4 allowance numbers, and a list (without subtotals) of items that would be included.
I'm meeting with my designer/architect tomorrow to go over the bids (which I faxed to her yesterday), and I'm hoping that will help me get a better grasp on where the differences are, and decide if I want to pay 10-15% extra for those differences. I think I've written the low bid off as impossible to be real, so I'm really deciding between the others. Then I'll call some references and hopefully make a final decision before the week's out.
