Why do I bother?

I spread an old sheet over the dry-clean-only comforter to try to limit the amount of cat hair that gets on it, and thus extend the cleaning cycle. (Yes, it was a mistake--I need to find a light duvet and washable covers, because a washable comforter is too big for my washing machine anyway. I do like the colors on this one, though...)

Fred occasionally decides that she *must* sleep directly on the comforter. When she does, a mere sheet is no obstacle...

Duvet covers are your friend -- they keep the fur off of the comforter itself, without significantly adding to the warmth-factor of the comforter. Many can be acquired for reasonable sums of money @ Ikea, in a wide variety of sizes.

Also, then, when the cat gets under the comforter cover, you can video the resulting amusement of them trying to get -out.-

They do! The comforters in Not-Down are -quite- cheap, too. Roommie Yin has one she adores, and it is the perfect weight year round.

I / We would be delighted to do an Ikea Excursion with you, btw, sooner -or- later, so that backup transport could be arranged, e.g. wheeling. I'm quite good at it -- had years of practice with my paternal grandmother.
