Rain, and gardening
Jun. 23rd, 2004 10:53 pmToday's our third day in a row of off-and-on thunderstorms, mostly in the late afternoon. The storm today hit as I was just logging off the computers and getting ready to leave the office, and by the time I'd gotten home, things were clearing up.
After supper I went out to move the yard trash cans to the street for the compost pickup tomorrow, and ended up wandering through the front yard pulling up weeds from the nicely softened ground--mostly isolated liriope sprouts, but other stuff too. Inspected the little perennial area I planted Sunday (yeah, it's absolutely the wrong season to plant perennials, which is why they were on sale... if they die, at least the monetary loss isn't that much). Looking good so far, helped by the daily natural watering. I put in 1 Red Hot Poker plant, surrounded by 5 Gaillardia (3 red-and-yellow, 2 plain yellow), in a small area at the end of the Nandina screen between my house and my brother's. We shall see if they survive.
