WW, Week 19

Went for a quick weigh-in before finishing the packing for Denver (that is, I didn't stay for the meeting), and was down 5 pounds from last week. As I said to my meeting leader, that's really the accumulated weight from 2 weeks, as last week showed no change. But still, 2.5 pounds a week is ahead of the pace.

Which is good, because the week in Denver will be hard. I am staying at a Residence Inn, and thus have the continental breakfast that they provide (several "good" options there) and a fridge in my room. I'll try to go by a grocery store this evening and stock up on fruit, and see if I can come up with some low-point lunch options. (There's a fridge and a microwave available at the USGS training center where I'll be during the day.) Then I'll eat out for the evening meal, and try to practice my portion control lessons. Maybe halving the entree and bringing the rest back for lunch will work.

Away from home is hard.

So easy to eat all the yummy greasy stuff that you can avoid at home.

At least I didn't gain weight on my backpack/trailwork trip this weekend. Then again, we didn't eat for 6 hours solid either.

You have to burn an awful lot of calories to make up for sausages and beer, brie and crackers, cheese and salami and sourdough bread, chocolate, whiskey, actual dinner food and various sweet and salty snacks.

This trip was a smaller group with less time in camp to eat.

OK. If/when I am ever in the San Francisco area I am going to come and help you folks work on the trails just so I can eat afterwards. YUM. YUM. And did I mention YUM? Those all sound so good.

WW - lunch ideas

My favorite "low point" lunch is a package of peanut butter crackers. They are usually about 4 points for a package of six. I usually have an apple or an orange or some other piece of fruit as well. Since I am on campus during lunch time my lunches have to be very portable. Since I've been bringing peanut butter crackers I don't lunch out of vending machines any more.

You are doing great considering how much you travel! Congratulations.
