I'm not fond of Peeps in any case, so this picture and recipe of Chocolate and Peeps Pie is very...unappealing. To say the least. Those who like extra-sweetened marshmallows, or who are imprinted on Peeps as Easter/Spring food, can have my share.

I had never *heard* of Peeps till a few years ago. Where did these things *come* from and why are they supposed to be so wonderful?

I tried one once. Stale, sugar-coated marshmallow. Yum. Not.

The fun purportedly comes from turning the rabbit ones upside down & slicing the ears to make Cthulhu tentacles--or so runs the rumor.

Ohhhh...

They had a peeps contest in the Seattle paper on Easter Sunday (well, pictures of the results, anyway -- http://archives.seattletimes.nwsource.com/cgi-bin/texis.cgi/web/vortex/display?slug=peepsintro16&date=20060416&query=peeps )

Enjoy.

Not quite the verb I'd choose, but to each her own masochism. ;)
