Nancy, I don't know if this applies to you, but because I have a *very* short waist and a *very* long inseam (5'3" with a 31" inseam), and because there's not a whole lot of difference between my waist and my hips anymore (I don't have a huge waist, I've just never had much in the way of hips), I have my best successes buying trousers in the men's department. Mostly khakis and chinos, but depending on what you wear with them, they can look nice enough to get away with. It's a thought, anyway.

Plus they're cheaper and better made (g).
