The different blood donation center did the trick--that, plus getting there before the door was even unlocked, and with an appointment to boot. Took 70 minutes including the travel time to and from my office.

They still were using what seems to me to be a very inefficient system with one person taking you through the interview and the donation before going back for another donor. The canteen area was self-service, though I guess the staff on the other side of the partition would hear the thump if you fainted and fell out of your chair. Will try to go back in 56 days or so.

They are really working on donor rewards. When the staff person left to go pick up my printed sheet, she came back with an (early) birthday card, with a nice little lapel pin in it. It seems if you donate in your birthday month, they give you a card. I signed up for the "win $1500 in gas" drawing for donors, but turned down the free T-shirt that came only in XL. My efforts to shrink some of my old XLs down to my current size M have not been successful for the most part.

There was a nice long thundershower this evening after I got home. Tomorrow would be a good day to go a weeding in the garden, but I suspect it just won't happen after work and exercise class. All the newly planted stuff got a nice soaking, anyway.

Doesn't "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" totally rock? The movie is *miles* better than the book.

It's too bad the blood donor process is still so inefficient. What did the t-shirt look like? Back when I could donate, my spouse was very willing to wear the shirts I bled for [it's covered under the "one flesh" rule, right? ;)].

It might be as well if you're not stooping and bending too much right after giving blood anyway.

The rain was cool [literally].
