LOL. I scanned the first few paragraphs quickly, not realizing that Fish was a cat.

I had the most wonderfully goofy image of a badly behaved and adventuresome goldfish. Then I pictured it trying to jump back into the bowl, succeeding, with only a wet spot on the table to confound you when you returned!
Sometimes, I amaze even myself at how easily I am entertained (g).
