Duvet covers are your friend -- they keep the fur off of the comforter itself, without significantly adding to the warmth-factor of the comforter. Many can be acquired for reasonable sums of money @ Ikea, in a wide variety of sizes.

Also, then, when the cat gets under the comforter cover, you can video the resulting amusement of them trying to get -out.-
