Visited States, revisited

I've picked up a few since the last time I did this. Current map:

create your own visited states map.

Statistics: visited 35 states (68%). I need to come up with some vacation that takes me through the upper Great Plains, or maybe I should have voted for that committee meeting next summer to be in Lincoln, Nebraska (which was one of the options).

For contrast, I did this one in July 2004--32 states, 62%. The countries map hasn't changed--no international travel in the last few years.

Watching Westminster

Fred and I are watching the Westminster Dog Show Well, I'm watching. Fred is bouncing around the living room playing with various toys, leaping on and off the cat tree, and generally entertaining herself. At the moment she's burrowed under a little pillow on a chair, and is peering over the top of it.

However, every now and then something on the TV catches her attention, and she moves in front of it and stares intently. A particular dog? Just the moving spot against the green background? Whatever it is, she is fascinated. For about 2 minutes....then she's off again.

Jazzerthon for the Cure

Should have mentioned this earlier, but...better late than never.

Sunday I'm participating in my third Jazzerthon, a fund-raising event for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. About 500 of us will dance and exercise for 3 hours in the ballroom of the Ritz-Carlton Buckhead, after having collected donations from those who are willing to support our efforts. I don't think anyone needs the pitch on the worthiness of fighting breast cancer, so let me just say that the Komen Foundation supports breast-cancer research directly, and also gives community grants for things like screenings, support groups, education efforts, and other local needs. It's a great organization that makes good use of the money they raise.

Unfortunately the Jazzerthon is not an event well set up for Internet fund-raising (or I'd have been much more....vocal, so to speak, on LJ and other places where I'm involved in a community). However, if anyone is interested in supporting me in this and donating to an excellent cause, I can take PayPal through Friday (the 16th) to my LJ account name at alum dot emory dot edu.
