Taxes: let's just punt

Well, I did get TurboTax installed, last year's return imported, and the few 1099's that have come in typed in. I put in the earned income from an almost-end-of-the-year pay slip and the info from the broker statements (not final yet), looked at the long list of items that would have to be estimated to try and see what my status really is, and punted.

I'll mail the 4th quarter estimated payments tomorrow. I probably need to pay them anyway...

From today's Atlanta Journal-Constitution:

Kirby Godsey has decided to end his 26-year reign as president of Baptist-founded Mercer University. He's been an important figure in Georgia's educational circles, probably best known for his prickly relationship with fundamentalists.


...State Sen. Cecil Staton (R-Macon) thought it fitting to honor Godsey's career and "unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness and kindness" [and] introduced a resolution in the Senate saying just that.

Such measures are unthinkingly assigned a numerical identity in order of submission. The Godsey resolution is SR 666.
