I visited the new Atlanta Ikea store on Monday. It's their first venture into this market, and they are making a big splash. Plus there's a great deal of pent-up demand from those who know Ikea from elsewhere. My sister-in-law and I set off to get there as they opened (this was the last day of the opening weekend), and though parking wasn't a hassle, the store filled up rapidly.
Overall impressions: annoying layout, hope the crowds will die down, saw a number of furniture pieces that I like the general style of and which seem well-priced. I'm not one to spend thousands on a sofa that will last the ages--I live casually, and the cats are allowed on the furniture. I'll add Ikea to places I'll visit for furniture shopping, though it probably won't be attractive enough to drive the extra distance for organizer stuff (the Container Store is closer) or kitchen items.
