How dry I am...

Got home around 6:30, fed the cats, opened the mail, then started heating leftovers for dinner. Decided on hot tea to drink, reached for the instant hot water, and got most of a cup before the flow slowed...and stopped. Tried the faucet. No water.

DeKalb County informs me that a crew just started working on a water main break in the area...no prediction on how long it will take to repair.

Oh, dear. I am so glad you didn't discover this problem in the shower with a headful of shampoo.

Younger niece called to see if there was leftover cake-of-the-week, came over for a piece (not of cake-of-the-week but another cake) and griped: about wanting a shower, no water, can't get to bed early, etc. She left, then returned immediately to get a piece of cake for her older sister and to say s-i-l was taking them over to their health club to shower. Resourceful s-i-l! Two teenage girls with no bathroom = misery.

Current prediction is another hour before we have water again. Then I can do the dishes...

When I had my bathtub replaced a few years ago, I couldn't use it for 48 hours in order to let the grout dry. My version of resourcefulness was to go to a local RV park and pay them a couple of bucks to use their showers [g].

S-i-l and brother and I managed our respective bathroom (and house) renovations by using the facilities next door...that won't work this time.

And I just tested and have water! Lots of air in the line, of course (cats are annoyed at the spitting sounds of the faucets), some mud, but it's back. Have started the dishwasher, figuring that the supplemental heater and the detergent will conquer any contaminants in the supply line.

Yay for running water! [g] I've never lived close enough to relations or friends for your renovation solution to be feasible.
