Slow progress

nlbarberOne countertop is in--the one with the utility sink, though the sink installation is still in progress. More cabinet trim work, too. The garage is still a tight fit for my car, as other countertops are still out there.
Today's discussion with Betsy revolved around plumbing: it seems the plumber came, and then they discovered that the tank for the instant hot water heater hadn't been delivered. The plumber also thinks there won't be room for the hot water heater and the disposal on the right side of the sink. Didn't we have this discussion? Yes, indeed, but the tank was not factored in, nor was the plumber in on it.
Current position is that the plumber will try to make it fit when he comes back (Thursday, I think), but it may not. The more I think about it, the firmer I am that I will not tolerate the disposal in the little, shallow, left-hand sink bowl, so if it can't be made to fit, I think the hot-water dispenser will have to move. Leaving a hole in the granite countertop which will have to be filled with something, like a stainless steel blank of some sort. And a new hole will have to be drilled, at additional cost I assume. I will call Betsy back and re-emphasize that the disposal goes in the big sink, and hope that she won't let the plumber give up too soon.
I told her about the scrape in the tile by the dryer, to which she just said "Oh, lord!" (I add it to my list of "things to look at for the punch list".) And she says the drain pan is a fixed size, so no flexibility there. If I decide I can't live with it after it's down, I'll ask her about options for fabricating one that's a closer fit. My supervisor suggests Corian works really well for this--I can't conceive of paying for a Corian drain pan...
